Q: Why did you create the Vital-Blu Series?
A: Two things that people always asked me in my nutrition practice: 1) what are the 2-3 things that everyone should take every day? And 2) if you could create one supplement with all of your favorite ingredients in it, what would it contain? From those two oft-repeated questions came the idea to create Vital-Blu...it answers both of those questions...it has everything I would want everyday for a mostly healthy person with a reasonably good diet.
Q: So, the auto-ship price is $129/month..is that a good value?
A: Yes. If you scan Amazon for all of the ingredients that come in the Vital-Blu Series, and select those with decent quality (so, omitting Puritans Pride, Swanson, etc) and choose their price around the price they offer when the item is on sale, you will come up with a 30 day price of between $145-$165...so, I round it to $155 for 30 days...or $155/mo. That makes $129/month for Vital-Blu autoship look pretty good....right?!
Q: I already take Vitamin D3, fish oil, and a multivitamin...I’m spending about $70/month on some decent nutrients..why should I switch to Vital-Blu?
A: For 2 reasons: 1) if you have a pretty healthy, mostly organic diet already, there is a great chance that your multivitamin is redundant, i.e. a waste of money...and 2) the sheer amount of powerful nutrients in Resverox 250 MCD alone are worth more than $79month (compared to Amazon products)..when you tack on the amazing GI/microbiome/Immune benefits of Bio-C-Glucan...on top of 1,000 mg of krill oil and the 5,000 iu of Vitamin D3...it’s just makes sense, nutritionally and financially.
Q: Why did you choose the nutrients in Resverox 250 MCD?
A: I chose them for a few reasons: 1) proven clinical impact, meaning they have been studied carefully and over a number of years..2) they are the most powerful in their respective therapeutic areas...whether it be reducing inflammation, reducing free radical damage, protecting against cancer, improving metabolic markers like blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Q: Why are there four separate supplements in the Vital-Blu Series?
A: Because these four best represent the items that everyone, in general, can benefit from, everyday. Assuming you are eating a good diet, these items are your best bet for adding things that will truly make a difference in how you feel and how well you age.
Q: Why is Krill Oil used instead of fish oil?
A: Both of these oils are beneficial for you, so be sure to take omega 3 fatty acids in some form...there are even vegetarian versions available. The reason we chose Krill Oil has to with the way the good fat is structured in krill oil; krill oil has most of its good fat (EPA and DHA) in a phospholipid arrangement, which is exactly the same structure as your cell membranes...so the fat can be readily absorbed into the cell. Fish oil is in the triglyceride or ethyl ester form, which requires conversion before absorption, so another step which reduces its availability for use in the cell.
Q:The price is pretty attractive, how can you offer this quality at this price.
A: That is a great question. It takes a lot of knowledge of the industry, knowing how to source the best raw materials at a good price, how to formulate for maximum physiological effect, how to have the processing and packaging done in a cost-efficient way...there are smart efficient ways to get things done, especially if your organization and process are flexible. Also, we are small, we don’t have a large organizational structure to support financially..so we have a streamlined cost structure, which allows us to make a fair profit while saving our patrons plenty of cost. Lastly, we have a very limited offering, four products at present...and maybe 1-2 more in the coming year, that’s all! This saves cost as well.
Q: I see the vitamin D3 is 5,000 iu per day, is that too much?
A: Actually studies show that the average adult requires 4,000 to 7,000 iu of vitamin D3 daily to stay at a serum level around 55-60, which is optimal. I always have my patients test every 9-12 months to make sure they are in a good range.
Q: Why did you create Bio-C-Glucan? Why is it important?
A: Because the health and vibrancy of your gastrointestinal (GI) tract is possibly the single most important aspect of your health. Without a healthy GI, the rest of the body is operating out of balance and at a deficit. Proper absorption of nutrition, and proper processing and elimination of food is paramount to your health.
Q: What is Inulin? What does PRE-biotic mean.
A: Inulin is a type of fiber that comes from Jerusalem artichokes, your GI bacteria (the good ones) eat Inulin to survive and grow. If you only use PRO-biotics alone, you miss out on more than half of the benefit to your GI of using both PRE and PRO together.
Q: What is Betaglucan?
A: Betaglucan is a specific type of polysaccharide (string of sugar molecules)..this type comes from the cell wall of a specific strain of yeast. It has been known to reduce cholesterol, but we use it here for its immuno-stimulatory capacity. Betaglucans prime or tune up certain cells in your immune system called neutrophils, making them quicker and more effective in their response to things (pathogens) that can make you sick.
Q: I’ve heard of Resveratrol..it comes from red wine, right?
A: Yes, Resveratrol comes from grape..as you’ve probably heard, the amount of Resveratrol in good quality supplements is equivalent to the amount found in several hundred bottles of wine. Resveratrol is being shown to exert a protective effect over the mitochondria (cell energy producers)..and the more we learn about health and disease, the more we are focusing on mitochondria. As a matter of fact, Resverox 250 MCD does many things, but it’s most critical role, in my opinion, is in protecting the mitochondrial from oxidative stress and damage. It does this by effecting the REDOX biology..meaning it keeps things calm and quenches the materials that usually cause damage to the cells.
Q: What is Pterostilbene? Why is it included?
A: Pterostilbene (pronounced Terostillbean) is very similar to Resveratrol..some call it Resveratrol on steroids. So it too is important in protecting mitochondria..it comes from blueberry skins.
Q: What is PQQ? And why is it included?
A: PQQ is very effective at helping with short term memory! It’s one of the only substances that has solid research in this area...and it only requires 20 mg/day! PQQ also effects the heart, liver and skin. It’s become an extremely popular cosmetic ingredient in the past couple of years because it truly improves skin quality. Amazingly, it has shown an ability to repair and even reverse liver fibrosis and damage in cases of fatty liver, which is becoming epidemic in the US. Further, PQQ improves blood circulation and cardiac function, supporting energy production in the heart and providing powerful antioxidant protection. Studies indicate that PQQ can also promote recovery from heart attacks and reduction of infarct size. It’s a champion nutrient and you will be hearing more about it in the future.
